Illuminance Meters

Illuminance meters (sometimes referred to as light meters, spot meters or lux meters) are the industrial cousins of photographic light meters, typically with improved accuracy, added functionality, and traceability. An illuminance meter measures the amount of visible light energy falling on to a defined area, using lx or fcd to express that available light as a measure of perceived brightness. Traceable measurement of illuminance and the colour of lighting is a common requirement in the built environment. Well designed and maintained lighting provides visual acuity, a feeling of safety, creates atmosphere and is common in many commercial and public spaces.

Konica Minolta supplies a range of instruments for illuminance measurement. Each of the instruments below conforms to standards such as DIN 5032 Part 7 Class B or Class AA of JIS C 1609-1: 2006 and can calibrated each year so that your measurement data is traceable.

Accurate and traceable measurement of light enables manufacturers, specifiers/designers, installers and inspectors to quantify the light in the environment. Using measurement data the operator can record or report that the lighting is safe, fit for purpose and meets any standards that may be defined by the customer or industry.
