Why is colour measurement important
Colour perception is very subjective
People have their own unique perception of colour. This is why two people can talk about the same colour but perceive it very differently. While one person sees changes, the other does not recognise any differences. Describing colours is also rather difficult and usually inaccurate.
Colour measurement is much more precise than visual colour assessment
Error-free production ensures high quality standards. The objective assessment of colours is crucial for decision-making and communication in all industries. The use of a colorimeter translates colour into values. This enables the immediate capture of results in different colour spaces for accurate analysis and comparison. Konica Minolta's precise measuring devices help manufacturers improve product quality and customer satisfaction, as well as comply with regulations and standards.
Precise Colour Communication
The importance of colour is often taken for granted, but it has a wide range of roles in our lives: not only does it influence our tastes in food and other purchases, it may reveal product quality, or even a person's health. Despite the importance of colour, colour measurement and colour control is often overlooked. This can lead to problems in deciding, specifying and communicating product colour or in business transactions involving colour.
Visual assessments of colour are subject to the assessor's impression, experience, technique and environment, which makes it practically impossible to control colour accurately using common, uniform standards. Instrumental colour measurement allows you to express a given colour accurately, communicate it to another person, and have that person correctly reproduce the colour.
Konica Minolta Sensing specialise in helping businesses measure and communicate colour in virtually all fields of industry and study. Konica Minolta also provide training and education to enable users to implement successful colour measurement processes. Our Precise Colour Communication booklet is an introduction to color theory and best practice colour measurement.
